ALMOST THERE...

Well, I spent this week off from school and three whole days trying to arrange last-minute travel plans to arrive in Cairo on Easter Sunday.

I spent those days investigating numerous hotels in cairo, airline schedules, hostels, package deals, VISA requirements, places to visit, and consular information.

I arranged for the hotel, had the VISA application and required photo taken, bought film and batteries for my cameras, gathered together my travel items and luggage, and sorted through the clothing I thought I would need. I also bought a ticket to NYC on JetBlue for TODAY (sad...). I coudn't get a return ticket on the day I wanted it, so I just decided when I returned home I would try to fly standby or take the train or bus. So I spent a great deal of time looking over my options via the JFK Website (this is one of the MOST USER-FRIENDLY WEBSITES I have ever used. It's excellent!).

So I invested a great deal of energy into this, and of course, my heart too. I was also hoping to visit some schools to find out about possible employment.

Anyway, when I originally spoke with EgyptAir about flights, there were still seats available. Two days later, after all my arrangements and excitement, there were only seats available for the trip to Cairo, none available to return to JFK until May. Unfortunately I could not stay that long, at least this trip.

I felt completely deflated. Major disappointment. But now I have a lot of great ideas for a trip in the future.

It's just not the right time I suppose.
